2.8 Guitar with my sis

Image
Hello again! This week of my genius hour project has been full of practicing guitar. As Ted Talks are coming up, my sister and I have been practicing for the song we are going to play. We don't know the exact song, but we have practiced a few that might work.     I would say I have progressed in my guitar skills, but I feel as if I feel the same as last week. For now, I need to get better for the song I am playing for my Ted Talk. My sister of course is already pretty good at the songs we have picked. However, I will need lots of practice. My goals are to keep practicing and hopefully the songs will sound good enough for my Ted Talk. I also hope to get working on my Ted Talk speech and make sure I am prepared.     Surprisingly,  there hasn't been as many set backs as I originally thought, but there has been a few. One of them is not practicing everyday like I have planned. I will work on this and make sure I practice every day....

Oh hey there, fellow bloggers! Welcome back to 'Guitar with my sis'! This week I was able to practice guitar quite a few times. I'm definitely not at my final goal. However, I'm getting better, slowly but surely. I have practiced old songs that I have been practicing before, and began working on some new ones. My sister has been extremely patient with me over the duration in which she has been teaching me. I have loved getting to spend time with her and learn new things!     This week I tried to not get so frustrated and focus on having fun with my sister. Together ,we have been playing songs that we enjoy. She of course sounds much better than me, but it is fun getting to play with her. I am grateful for all that I have got to learn with her.      Another focus of this week was to begin working on the song that we will be playing for our Ted Talk, so it has been well practiced. My sister will get it down really fast, but I will need to prac...

Above is the guitar I practice with!     Oh hey there friends! Today marks the 6th week of my journey to learning to play the guitar. I can say it has gotten better, but definitely not where I want to be. Last week I practiced strumming patterns along with cords, and this week I continued to do this. I feel that it is important to master the fundamentals before getting to the more challenging aspects.      This week I started to improve a little. I have gotten through songs with very little pauses and mess ups. I wasn't able to practice as much as I wanted to this week due to everything that's been going on. I plan to get more time these upcoming weeks to practice. My sister and I play together at times, but normally she is just teaching me. I am still trying to perfect the basics of guitar. However, you have to start somewhere! One day I hope I can be as good as my sister.      My goals this week have been somewhat accomplished, but due to the li...

Hello again! This week has definitely been more successful than the last. My sister and I practiced more and I tried getting the concept down better. I tried a different song that required a tougher strumming pattern. This song was called "Somewhere Over the Rainbow". Along with this I learned new cords. I also got to listen to what my sister was working on. It looked very complicated. She sounded really good. Listening to her play helps me know what it is supposed to sound like.      My goals for this week were to progress on getting strumming patterns down. I progressed more than last week at least. My goals have not yet been met, but I hope I will get it down in a couple weeks. I hope to also do cords without having to look down and pause the song. This week I ended up not having as many complications this week. Thankfully I didn't get as frustrated. All I need is a whole lot of practice.      My goals for next week are to practice a...

Hello again! Last week, I hoped by now I would be able to catch on to cord changes and strumming patterns. Ya so, umm I'm still working on that. It is definitely a hard concept to master. I believe it will take me a couple more weeks or more for me to do it without messing up. However , this week I continued to work on this. I also practiced cords and tried changing them without looking. I am doing a little better, but it doesn't sound all that good in my opinion. Thankfully, my sister plays with me sometimes, because she makes it sound so much better.           My goals for this week were to step up my game and play a whole song without messing up. I would say I partially accomplished this goal. My long term goal is to master a song and sing along with it. Hopefully, I catch on fast. My sister has been a great teacher she really pushes me to keep practicing. Sometimes, I'm not in the mood to play, but she gets me to...

Oh hey there! If I could describe this past week in one word it would be: eventful. Very eventful. Eventful, in a good and bad way. Let's just say there were several ups and downs I believe this week I have progressed. I am very slowly getting a hang of it. My sister has taught me several important techniques. I am amazed how much she knows. She taught me rhythm and how to connect everything together, such as cords. strumming patterns etc. In my opinion strumming pattern along with a certain cord was the hardest. I got frustrated and had to take a break from it and then I came back to try it again. This was the down side of things, getting frustrating and giving up for a while.           Along with Anna teaching me guitar, I was also able to listen to what she is personally working on. It seemed extremely complicated. I am amazed of what all she can do at a young age. My goal for this week was interpret cords better, a...

Welcome to week two of guitar with my sis! My sister loves teaching me. She loves to boss me around. Surprisingly, she is a very good teacher. This week we started to learn a new song. The song is called "Counting Stars". My sister does the picking in the piece, while I do the strumming. The song consists of several of the cords I learned last week. My sister is my motivation, because most of the time it gets frustrating, but she tells me to keep going and this way I overcome my frustration and learn.           My overall goal for this week was to memorize about five cords on my own. I accomplished this goal... thanks to my little sis. I'm hoping by next week, I will learn half of the song. My sister and I have lots of fun together. Our similarities between us are outrageous. However, I will start to have to practice by myself, in order to keep up with my sister. I will need to practice at least 15 minutes a day.  ...
